Operational certainty in complex environments.
Mountain territories are the water towers of the planet — and the frontline of climate risk. Smart Mountains builds the data infrastructure that turns environmental signals into decisions operators can act on.
Mountains operate in the dark
In the last decade, mountain territories have experienced increasingly extreme conditions — glacial retreat, unexpected flooding, infrastructure failures — that existing weather models cannot predict accurately enough for operational decisions. The managers of ski resorts, hydroelectric plants, road networks, and alpine municipalities are making high-stakes choices on incomplete data.
Smart Mountains changes this. We don’t sell dashboards or raw data streams. We integrate distributed sensor networks, InSAR satellite imagery, and machine learning models into a single operational intelligence layer — calibrated to the specific risk profile of each territory.
“We don’t sell data. We sell operational certainty in complex environments.”
Three layers. One platform.
Monitor
Distributed IoT sensor networks deployed across mountain territories — soil moisture, snowpack, slope movement, water flow, microclimate. Continuous, autonomous, calibrated.
Predict
Machine learning models trained on territory-specific historical data, combined with InSAR satellite imagery and meteorological integration. From signal to forecast in minutes.
Decide
Operational intelligence delivered to the people who act: infrastructure managers, civil protection, water utilities. Not data. Decisions — and the evidence behind them.
Where we’re building
Smart Mountains operates through local Joint Ventures — co-developed with territory partners, incubated through Imprese Favolose, and designed to generate lasting environmental intelligence infrastructure for each site.
Valtellina · Italy
Glacial monitoring and hydroelectric risk intelligence. Water resource management under high climate variability.
Dolomiti · Italy
Alpine infrastructure protection. Slope stability, snowpack modelling, and tourism operations resilience.
Alps · Switzerland
Cross-border environmental intelligence. Infrastructure corridor monitoring and early warning systems.
Scandinavia / Canada
Northern territory expansion. High-latitude climate adaptation for remote infrastructure operators.
